P&C Update Seminar Question
Hello,
Would you recommend attending the Boston or Chicago seminars on Dec 4/5, 2012 if we are interested in receiving the latest updates on matters discussed at the NAIC Fall National Meeting? Seems the schedule this year is different from before in that the NAIC meeting is 11/29-12/2 in DC and I'm just wondering if there will be enough time for the content delivered at the Boston or Chicago seminars will include the items and decisions reached at the NAIC Meeting. Do you think there will be significant matters or decisions reached at the Fall meeting? If not, then we would prefer to attend the October meeting in LAX. Thanks for your insights, Gordon PS - As a suggestion, it would be nice to have more west coast locations/dates available next year. |

The DC meeting will not impact the textbook - no way to make changes to the text, get the books printed and shipped in that amount of time. Because we will have someone attending the meeting, we might have some insight into developments from the meeting that we could verbally communicate even though such developments would not be reflected in the text. It's possible that this ad hoc information could be significant and it could be immaterial. Overall, the class will not be materially different but there could be some extra nuggets provided in Boston/Chicago.
There may be significant items discussed at the last meeting but today, that is impossible to know. There will not be any blanks changes made that late in the process but there could be disclosure changes or SSAP changes made at the 11th hour. It has happened before. If prior to meeting, we suspected something significant could occur at the DC meeting, we would communicate that fact and inform the class to monitor the NAIC website or our forums for more information.
