LTC validation

Why do I get validation error for NAIC Rule PTALU00001 - 3 relating to LTC footnotes when I am not required to file Long Term Care Experience?

Am I ok to file with NAIC or are there updates coming that I should wait for?

I would recommend you wait. There are still some questions about Schedule BA-Part 1.

If you select the supplements, when you manually run the validations, you will see the corresponding validations for those supplements, even if they are not filed.

Only select the supplements which you are filing when running validations manually.

Has there been any progress made on the LTC validation error?

The validation is correct, but only if you write LTC business. It only displays when you run validations manually, based on what you have selected. It will NOT be captured and does not require an explanation when you create your submission file because you do not write the line of business. We recommend only selecting those supplements which you DO write when running validations manually.

Errors came up regarding LTC when I created the filing and the validation text file had two listings, PTALU000003 and PTALU000002.

Do you have states created for LTC - Form 5, other than the Grand Total? If all of the forms are blank and there are no states created, the validations should not appear during the submission creation.

If there are states created, you will need to delete them if you do not write LTC business.

Do you have states created for LTC-Form 5 other than the Grand Total? If so, you will need to delete them. If all forms are empty and the LTC-Form 5 does not have states inserted, the validation failures should not be there.

If you are still seeing the validations failures for the footnotes, please send your April submission file to us at bookesupport@sovos.com, attention Debbie, for review before submitting to the NAIC.

FYI. Validation error is gone after the update, but there is still a warning when creating the filing.

The warning is because the footnote items are flagged as mandatory in the NAIC electronic filing specs. Just ignore the warning. You will be fine.
