Short/Cover transactions

One of our companies entered into a large amount of short / cover transactions. I believe these are netting out to a smaller amount of holdings, but the activity for the shorts (negative buys) and covers (negative sells) is overwhelming our cost and consideration amounts and making them very negative. This leads to negative amounts on our D1B, VBY, and cash flow pages for cost and consideration. Is this correct to report like this or should we be netting the activity out and reflecting a net buy or a net sell? Thank you!!
